SYMPTOMS

High CPU usage and general slowdown of system performance. The product might respond very slowly, or might stop responding during an operation.

CAUSE

This can be caused by many reasons. One of the main causes would be that the process is being monitored by an underlying process activity monitor, such as an anti-virus, an anti-spyware or an anti-malware service.

RESOLUTION 

Disallowing these monitoring applications from interfering with the process. Consult your antivirus documentations to learn how to exclude certain application from extensive testing. Or you can use the Pre/Post commands in the preferences to disable / enable such process scanners.
